Virtual: Using FamilySearch Effectively

Monday, November 156:30—8:00 PMOnlineMain Library28 Arlington Street, Dracut, MA, 01826

FamilySearch is FREE. You do have to register with a username and password, but there is no cost for the service. For those just starting out in their family research this is the first place to go. It is expanding its records daily. It does offer a place to host your family tree, but there is a risk you will learn about in this lecture. The images used in this presentation are the results of actual research done by the presenter. Learn how to refine your searches, use catalogs, use the training videos and much more.

Richard Reid is the director of both the Friends of Irish Research and the David Allen Lambert Library which are based in Brockton, MA. The Friends provide training seminars, host a website full of research resources and provide consultations in the Brockton facility or via email. Richard has worked in the computer industry and taught in high schools, trade schools and colleges for over 35 years. He has co-authored four computer books, and established several computer training centers in New England. He is an active member of over a dozen societies including the Genealogical Association of Nova Scotia and the Cape Breton Genealogical and Historical Association. In addition to the computer and genealogical work, Richard also pastors North Baptist Church in Brockton.
