Open Space Hike - Nickel Mine

Wednesday, July 266:00—7:00 PMOutdoorsMain Library28 Arlington Street, Dracut, MA, 01826

Explore local open spaces by joining a guided tour with a member of the OpenSpace Committee! We'll have several different hikes for teens and adults of all abilities throughout the summer and fall. Our fifth hike will be at Nickel Mine conservation area on Varnum Ave. Please register so we can notify you if anything changes that day. We will leave the trailhead by 6:05pm so please consider arriving early. We also recommend taking measures to prevent tick bites, such as wearing long pants and light-colored clothing, and maybe using bug spray or other repellant.

The Nickel Mine Conservation Area affords a pleasant ½ mile walk through open woods on 27 acres to two historic foundations adjacent a sand and gravel operations and adjacent to the brook of the same name. There once was a Nickel Mine nearby and you may also spot some old picnic fire places. Access is from Varnum Ave in Kenwood with roadside parking.

Registration is recommended so we can notify you of any change in plans.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Offered in partnership with the Open Space Committee.
