Craft kits are limited, so get them while you can! This craft is recommended for ages 3-8, but any age is encouraged. Registration is required. You will be notified when your craft kit is available to pick up.
Materials Included:
1 large pom pom
3 small pom poms
1 piece of construction paper
1 craft stick small
2 small googly eyes
1 pipe cleaner
What You Need:
Wet Glue
Scissors
Pencil
Markers/crayons/anything you wish to decorate your butterfly with
Directions:
1. Place your hand on the folded edge of the paper so there's about 2 inches between the fold and the end of the thumb. (So that the fold in the paper is in the middle of the palm.) Trace an outline around the handprint.
2. Cut out handprint.
3. Open the paper handprint and color a pattern on both sides of the butterflies using markers or pencil crayons.
- Optional: Keep the design symmetrical, just like a real butterfly!
4. Fold the pipe cleaner in half and Pinch one end of the pipe cleaner and roll it into a spiral. Repeat to make a spiral with the other end of the pipe cleaner.
5. Add glue to one end of the popsicle stick and press the bottom of the antennae pipe cleaner down onto it.
6. Continue using the wet glue to first attach the larger pom pom, then the smaller pom poms to the popsicle stick. Leave about 2 inches of the popsicle stick empty so you'll be able to hold the butterfly as a puppet.
7. Attach the googly eyes to the large pomp om with wet glue.
8. Squeeze a line of wet glue down the fold of the handprint and attach your popsicle stick.
9. Once dry, Pinch the end of the popsicle stick and make the wings flutter as it flies through the air!
