Do you want to learn how to draw but don't know where to start? In this class, we’ll share fun, beginner-friendly drawing techniques that can turn anyone into an artist. This class will help you overcome your fear of the blank page and focus on putting pencil to paper so you can draw the way you always wished you could. Due to the brevity of this class, you will not leave a drawing master, but you will take away some tips and techniques that will come in very handy in your learning to draw.

In this class, we will cover the fundamentals of drawing. We will help you embrace imperfections in your work with step-by-step exercises that apply key drawing techniques.

Led by Glenn Szegedy, a Lowell area artist who has been making art for the last 20 years. Retiring from a Human Service career working with disabled children, Glenn went back to school at age 40 and received his BFA in drawing and sculpture from the University of New Hampshire.

A longtime resident of Lowell, he now lives in Dracut Ma, where he works from a home studio. A resident of Western Ave Studios for 10 years he now prefers the privacy and quiet of working from his home studio. He has a long history of exhibiting work throughout New England and has many works in private collections.

Glenn has had the opportunity to curate several exhibits here in Lowell. He also held the curatorial position at the Loading Dock Gallery for several years. Teaching has also been a passion and Glenn has had many opportunities to do so in the Lowell area.

Glenn’s creative work has varied over the years from sculpture, to ceramics, printmaking and other forms of art. He has spent the last 3 years discovering portrait work.

While creating the images from The Power of One show, he says “I slowly began to see the importance and beauty of individual’s, not beauty queens, nor billionaires or movie stars, but everyday people who create the rich diverse communities we live in.

Glenn plans on continuing to divide his time between his two loves…gardening and art. His portrait work will continue, and he hopes to continue to try and capture the person behind the face.
