  • Paper Doilies (Dollar Tree)
  • Wood Skewers (supermarket)
  • Glitter Stars (cut from cardstock)
  • Wood Slices (Amazon.com)

You will need:

  • Glue Stick
  • Hot Glue Gun

Instructions:

Because the doilies are so thin you need to use 2 of each size. Do not separate them. With this kit you can make 2 large trees or a large (4 doilies) and a small (3 doilies).

1. Cut one quarter out of each size doily. Using the glue stick, glue the 2 layers together at the cut edge.

2. Flip over the smallest doily. Using the glue stick, place a thin layer of glue along one cut edge. Overlap the cut edges to form a cone shape. Hold together until adhered. Do the same with the other doilies.

3. Place the wooden skewer next to a ruler. Starting from the pointed end, make small marks at 1 inch, 2.25 inches, 3.5 inches & 4.75 inches. For a small 3 layer tree, make marks at 1 , 2.25, 3.5 & 9.5 inches. Cut off the skewer at 9.5 inches. If you can’t cut it, make a groove in the wood and break against the counter.

4. Hold the skewer with the point up. Put hot glue all the way around at the lowest mark. Poke the skewer though the top of the largest cone & bring it down until it touches the hot glue. Hold until the glue cools. Try to keep the doily centered while you wait for the glue to harden. Repeat with the other doilies working largest to smallest making sure to keep all the seams on the same side.

5. Put a small amount of hot glue into the hole in the wood slice and insert the skewer. Hold to keep straight while the glue hardens.

6. If making 2 large trees, glue a large star to the front of the skewer and your done! If making a large and small tree (3 layers), you can glue the same size stars back to back by using the glue stick to adhere the tips together. When completely dry, insert the tip of the skewer into the star.
