Adult Take Home Craft Kit - Folded Book Witch. Get into the Halloween spirit with this bewitching craft! Paint her purple, green, orange or just leave her black & white. She looks great in any color!

Registration Required. Registration opens 10/1/21.

Limited quantity. 1 per patron. You will be notified when your craft kit is ready for pickup.

Supplies:

Included:

• Paperback book with cover removed (150 pages)
• Wooden doll head
• Hat Templates
• Ribbons, Felt, Pipe Cleaners, Sticky Gems
• Twig, Raffia, Wire (broom)

You will need:  Paper clip or chip clip - Glue stick & Glue Gun - Spray Paint (optional)

The body & arms: 

The body:

• Start by bending the binding back and forth a bit throughout the book to loosen it up. As you are folding, continue to push the book open to help loosen the binding more, but be careful not to break it. 
• Remove 2 pages to save for the arms.
• Fold the first page down so that the upper right corner is in the middle, towards the binding. 
• Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top page. 
• Fold the whole page down so that it meets the binding again. 
• Use a paper clip to hold some folded pages so they are not in your way as you are folding the next page.
• Continue to do the same folds with the rest of the book. 
• Use your glue stick to glue the last 2 pages together. Try to glue it closer to the inside. 

The arms: Cut one page in half & roll it in from any corner. Using a glue stick, glue the remaining flap around. Do the same with the other half page. Trim to about 4.5 inches.

Option: Spray paint both the body & arms. Let dry.

The Hat:

• Using your templates, cut out the hat. 
• Create the cone of the hat by curling the sides in and glue the overlapping edges. 
• Trim the bottom if necessary so it will sit flat on the brim. 
• Place a small amount of hot glue on the bottom edge and attach to the hat brim. 
•  Attach the long ribbon around the base of your hat.

Assembling your witch:

• Determine the front of the body and glue on the head.
• Attach the short ribbon around the neck using the glue stick to attach the ends together in back.
• Glue the hat to the head.
• Curl your pipe cleaner hair around a pencil, then attach to the head under the hat.
• Embellish the hat with the stick on gems. Place a spot of hot glue on the moon before placing it on your hat.
• Attach the arms. Place a bit of hot glue on each side of one end and attach between the pages about midway to the back and about 1/4 - 1/2 inch down from the neck.

The Broom:

 --Roll the raffia around 4 fingers. Cut each end so as to open up the ends.                                                                                                                                  --Place a stick into one end of the raffia and wrap the wire around to hold the straw in place.                                                                                            --Place the broom under the right arm and wrap the “hand” down and under the broom handle and glue to the arm. Hold until dry. Place top of the broom handle over the left arm and wrap that “hand” up and over the broom stick and glue to the arm. Hold until dry.
